TITLE: Youth Development Professional
PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Professional DEPARTMENT: Programs REPORTS TO: Branch Director PRIMARY FUNCTION: Plans, implements, supervise and evaluate activities provided in within a specific program area, such as Character & Leadership, Education & Career, Social Recreation & Fitness, The Arts, and Health & Life Skills. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success 1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes: A. Promote and stimulate program participation; B. Register new members and participate in their club orientation process; C. Provide guidance and role modeling to members. D. Refers members in need of counseling to the Director. Program Development and Implementation 2. Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors. 3. Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports. 4. Consistently promotes programs to members, parents and the community via verbal communication, flyers and letters. Supervision 5. Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly branch staff meetings. 6. Enforces appropriate discipline when necessary. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. May participate in special programs and/or events. 2. Implement National Boys & Girls Clubs of America programs. 3. May be required to drive Club van. 4. Maintenance/Safety issues are reported immediately to the Director. 5. Performs custodial duties as needed. 6. There is an awareness of steps and procedures in case of an emergency. RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: . • High School diploma or GED. . • Experience in working with children. . • Knowledge of youth development. . • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems. . • Ability to deal with the general public. . • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth. . • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment. . • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications. . • Valid State Drivers License PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Demonstrate ability to: . • Maintain a high energy level. . • Be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. . • Speak clearly and hear normal conversations as well as out of the ordinary noises. . • Sit or stand for four plus hours per day. . • Stoop, bend, climb, and walk frequently. . • Lift up to 40 pounds. . • No tuberculosis – doctor verified.
